GAS PRICE REALITY

I was listening to KUPD this afternoon and was able to listen in on a phone call to the state dept. of weights and measures. Basically the jist of things is this....

1. There is no shortage of gas...there hasen't been and the won't be in the near future

2. The shortage scares are just that...scares...ususally rumors started by random individuals...with creates our own 'mini hysteria' and chaos

3. I doesn't matter if gas prices are $2, $3, or $4 per gallon...people are still going to buy gas regardless...because there hummers and excursions still have to get em places.

4. The 'don't buy gas on "x" day and "that" day will not bring the oil companies to there knees.

5. Gas prices are controlled buy the gas companies...there is no other influence (other than maybe government) that affects gas prices...they are strictly controlled by the gas companies themselves

6. There is something we can do...believe it or not...we as consumers can change the gas price structure.

7. We as a state (or larger...country maybe) would have to as a majority....not buy gas for 1 week. A one week period with no purchases would cripple the gas compaies and they would have to lower gas prices.

Don't take my word for this. This was from the State Dept.

I know there are businesses out there that cannot do this sort of thing...but as for the rest of us we can do something about it. This country relies on fossil fuels and for us not to be able to afford them anymore is kind of scary. For those of us that enjoy horsepower, the thrill of driving, customizing, and just plain love cars...this hurts. Because of gas I cannot build my car. Everything else in the world is going up in price because of this and now what....another gas hike???



We have the power...but do we dare??

gas is now over 3.00 a gallon in so cal what can you do thats why i bought a bike

plus something would have to change if nobody bought gas for a week and nobody went to work im sorry but i still make the same when gas was 1.50 a gallon the country would stop if people stood there ground and didnt go to work for a week cuz they couldnt afford gas

It is horrible...no one is making more money...if you do make more they tax the hell outta you. I work for a warehouse company and I am risking getting laid off because we can no longer afford our delivery trucks and shipping costs....

This got old a long time ago...what can we do. Streetsource is the largest gathering of auto enthusiasts anywhere...someone has to have a idea..maybe with involvment from SEMA...

Maybe they are all pipe dreams...but we live in America...the land of the free...and to lose some of our freedoms...not to oppression or war...but to lobbiests and greedy bastards that feel they can take our passions away.

Everytime gas prices drop OPEC cuts production...there has to be something...

gas prices hit 3.30 yesterday....but people just go on filling up like they have to pay it and they cant do anything about it...

they will not be shipping gas to nc for two weeks ending at 4pm today WTF!!!!!!!! some people got work and school to go back to va to work and pay my rent for a while im fucking angry no if ands or buts im fucking ANGRY

HEll in Ft.Worth Texas I heard there was a station that closed the doors because the owner said the hell with it he wont sell gas at these prices.. Hell If more station's would do this, Then people couldnt get gas and then maybe someone would pull there head out of the F*ckin A$$ and maybe it would come down this is Bull$h!t.. It is at 2.79-3.01 in Burleson

I have sent e-mails to gov. officials with my concerns and posible soulitions. But until we are paying as much as the British my Honda will stay driving arround as I always have.
