Im BDing my 89 toyota truck right now, and i was thinkin of takin out my AC shit and runnin an engine driven comp? When i sell my truck in AZ in a year or so, will the value be shot to shit cause theres no AC? i really wanna switch to engine driven, and my toy is a weekend cruiser right now, so its not like i need the AC, im just worried about the value droppin when i sell it... any imput will be appreciated.

resale value & bodydrop don't go together, plus, most dudes who are wantin to buy a BD minitruck don't really expect it to have AC
& an 89 model truck isn't really worth any $ anyways dude, sorry to break it to ya
:DRAG:
thanx for the imput, FYI the 89-94 are all the same, and right now, its only got 130K origional miles. Will my stock AC pump work? they say that some trucks can use stock pumps, and some cant.
as much as you prob'ly don't want to hear this, i'd have to disagree with matt. more and more of my customers are requesting that their a/c stay intact. the days of laying rocker at any cost are passing us by. more and more people are building interiors to resemble those of luxury cars. we want to be comforable while dragging sheetmetal. so... if you don't HAVE to take it out, i wouldn't.
i kept my factory a/c and heater and did a bodydrop on my 91

yeah dude, i know alot of people are wanting to keep the AC in their BD trucks, but it's still not common on your weekend warriors
i'm betting 10% of the BD minis around have AC, and usually they're not running a rim bigger than 18", I know I had a hell of a time clearing my tires and keeping my AC & I'm just bagged and cut to lay 20's, I hadto fab up a sheetmetal blower box and notch the upper control arm to clear the evaporator, and it doesn't blow as hard as it used to either
as for the AC compressor being used for air ride, most AC comps aren't made to handle the high pressure pumping like we put in our air ride. York or sanden compressors can be used though, and york's were stock AC pumps on some SAAB's. You can also find york's from old big rig trucks in the boneyard, or even some old Ford trucks, and get them from your local auto part's store.
Don't forget to run an inline oiler and a nice long steel braided hose from the compressor to the tank, those things get really hot and will melt DOT plastic airline quick with hot oil.
true that alot of bd'd minis don't have a/c. but in my opinion, that's not an excuse to keep doing it that way. i understand that s-10's are a little trickier, but you can still lay rocker on 19's with a/c on a dime. i've layed 89-95 toys on their rockers on 19's and kept a/c with very minimal effort and i'm sure people have done it with 20's to the pinch. why not keep you a/c and just do as matt has advised and run a york or something. fab-up some brackets and make it all work. it'll be a little more $ and effort, but well worth it in the long run.
here in az with high temps around 125 degrees in the summer, people are gonna want to see that AC when purchasing a vehicle. If i were you, just buy a nitrogen tank since its a weekend driver anyways and fill it up once a month...
i'm with pimp up there, run nitrogen, it's hard enough to BD a toyota to the rocker and keep a stock hood, much less on a motor with an EDC and AC compressor
get your self a nitro scud missle and mount it in the bed, then section the oil pan, drop the motor to clear the hood, and finish BDin that thing. You should also worry more about keeping the AC for your own comfort, rather than resale value, I'd rather not sweat my balls off than worry about it adding $250 to the value of a 15 year old truck.
BD'ed Minis here in AZ are like finding a '59 Impala. More and more are doin stockfloor BD out here to keep em though
