TRUCK WONT START?!?!?! NEED HELP ASAP

Hey,

I have a 1994 ford ranger with a 2.3! I was pretty low on gas but had to drive to work to get my check, on the way home, on a down hill it ran out of gas and at first I thought it died so I tried to start it...which I belive ran the lines dry so I coasted to a pull off on the road.

So far, Ive put 5 gallons of gas in, and tested the fuel pump, I also checked the 'shreider valve' and yes there is gas coming out of it, and it still will not start.

I also sprayed ether into the air intake..while tyring to start, it almost started but went back to not starting.

Any ideas before I have to pay to get it towed?
