few business questions..

when ive talked to people who have told me, to be a wholesaler for certain companies, you must seperate yourself as a business from say "someone just looking to get hooked up and get cheap parts for friends" by paying a "buy-in". My question is, (since I didnt think to ask then) is the buy in just a payment to sell the companies parts, or are you actually buying a large quantity of their products to have one large stock to start off with? Sorry if this is a stupid question.. but I hope it makes sense and someone can help me out.

Also, does anyone here know much about grants? I know you usually think of grants being given to science type things or college students, but is there any grant possibilities for an automotive customizing business?

If anyone knows alot about these types of things, and is willing to help me out or give me some tips thatd be awesome. I'm just trying to learn some stuff.. Thanks alot.
