mighty max/d50

I got a mighty max/d50, and occasionally when i stop at a light then go to take off, it stalls, doesnt die but acts like it. Also, sometimes boggs out, like the more i press the gas, the slower it goes, its not fuel injected, so im thinkin the carb needs adjusting, but im definately not an expert, so any suggestions would be appreciated...
