i always thought thats how they did it anyways... was to just cut down the stock glass. but you might have to have a custom windshield made because of the coating they put on front glass.

I did it by cross sectioning the roof into four corners, dropped each section down onto the pillars so I could keep the same glass angles. Then I filled in the "plus sign" on the roof with new sheet metal. I was able to take all of my glass to a glass shop and they trimmed 3 inches off my factory glass and it worked out great without buying custom glass. Plus, I think it looks alot better having the same windshield profile as factory, just a little shorter.

Getting factory glass chopped down there is a risk it will break, but then again you can break a lot of factory screens before you get near the cost of custom glass.

yeah the cross section is how i''m wanting to do it. I didn't know if our trucks were laminated or tempered glass. So thank god. looks like when i get some sheetmetal, this is gonna be my first big task so i can truly commit myself.

Its called a quartered roof chop. Call local glass shops and find one that is comfortable cutting glass.

Also, have the glass cut first, then make the top fit it. Its much easier to reshape metal.

Also the side glass cannot be cut, its tempered.

hell. Anyone tried to cut the glass yourself. Like the dremel tool with a diamond cut off wheel. Cutting shallow and working your way deeper. But being very slow and not building up heat in one area.

Start pulling glass at the junkyards and give ti a shot. The glass shops generally break at least one before getting it right.
