RX-7 tranny

I'm looking at an 86 rx7 and the one thing that worries me a ton is the shifter has a lot of play in it. The shifter actually seems to be able to wobble a foot in each direction while in gear. It's not a strong, stiff shift at all. Deal breaker or easy fix?
