Is it worth it?

I bought some springs for my car a few months back and didn't tell my parents I bought them cause they hate when I'm "wasting money" on my car. Well, they found the springs and told me I couldn't put them on. They threatened to stop paying my rent if I put them on(I'm in college and don't have alot of time for a job)Question is if I did go ahead and put the springs on do you think they could tell that its lowered??? The springs will only lower the car(an Eclipse) 1.2 inches Should I still lower it or not??? I can't return the springs Thanks guys...sorry it's so long
