any advantage to moving ranger radius arms

is there any need to raise the radius arm mounts up on older style ibeamed rangers to put the frame flat on the ground? ive heard of people doing it but it doesnt appear that it would make any difference. the frame isnt flat anyway only a small section will actaully lay. anyone?
