stock hood with a 3 inch body drop

this has probably been asked before but here goes. can a stock hood be retained on a 97 ranger with the 2.3l witha 3 inch body drop? if so what is involved in doing so. on my toy all that hadto be done was lower the motor mounts but the ranger already had to have the i-beam notched to clear the oilpan so it would lay. any help would be appreciated.
