How the hell do i cut objects in photoshop 7.0???

what the fuck...i just downloaded photoshop 7.0 and im ATTEMPTING to create some kinda crazy mechanism to enter in the chellenge but i cant figure out what the hell tool just selects objects so i can cut them or move them or whatever...im a moron...thanx for any help
