pinion angle??

alright, it's a 2001 ranger xcab with a one piece driveshaft. i have a 5/5 drop with 2* shims in the back. i am thinking that the pinion angle might be off...how do i check it? what should it be at?any info would be great...i have heard bad things about bad pinion making trannies bad...
