B16 Question

First off, let me say, I know nothing about Honda's or imports in general. I drive a mini-truck, but I am interested in other genres as well. My one friend had an awesome 2k Civic SI and I thought it was sick until he totalled it!

I always here about the B16 engine when people talk about Honda's. What exactly is the B16 engine? What makes it so great?
