I have issues with my transmission, it will not shift into 4th. I spoke to a guy who has a junkyard with only Mighty Max's. He tells me there is a temp sensor next close to the thermostat that tells the transmission from going into 4th.

He also tells me that the thermostat should be a 190 degree.

One more thing is, he's telling me that Mighty maxes should only have 93 octane gas because burning cheap gas could crack the head with time.

Anyone has heard of this?

any chance you could send me a pic of what that sensor looks like? I have the issue where my truck won't go into 4th and would like to know what I need to replace, not too much experience with this and would like some help...

Ok, as you can see in my 3 pics, I see 3 sensors, I found the T sensor you told me about, it's labeled 2.
I found a 3rd. sensor (#3). Can you tell me which one it's the one I need to replace? I tried to disconnect #3 and the temp gauge still marked temp.
I am assuming #3 is the one I have to ground maybe to see if O/D will kick in?
Also, under the Steering wheel I saw an empty socket, which according to the manual it's supposed to house the O/D relay but it's empty now. My truck is a 95, Am I supposed to have a relay there? I couldn't find an over drive for a 95 Mighty max on the internet, all of the ones I see are for a maximum of '90. Please let me know? I am learning so much in the process but I really want to enable my O/D. It's really bothering me not being able to get on the highway..
