Hello,
My name is Henry and I have a manual 1989 Mitsubishi Mountain Max in need of a transmission. I plan on pulling one from a parts truck and rebuilding it but don't know what trucks would work.

Which transmission came stock in these trucks?
I've been told it is the same as the power ram d50s of the same year, is this true?
Was it the same as the manuals behind the 2.0L Mitsubishi engines of this year? (I assume it isn't the same as the 2.4Ls as they are very different engines, but I may be wrong)
Could I put my old tailshaft on a transmission from a 2WD so it would fit my transfer case?
I've heard the Mitsubishi 2.6L engine went in a lot of dodge and mitsubishi vehicles, did any other vehicles use this transmission?

Thank you very much for your help,
Henry

Yes Mighty Max and Ram 50s are the exact same trucks. A 2.0 tranny will not work as it is a narrowblock and your 2.6 is a wideblock. But a tranny from a 2.6l or 2.4l will work as they are both wideblocks.

Thank you for the info Josh. So D50 or Max with 2.4 or 2.6.
Does anyone know what years I'm looking for?
Is there a way to adapt a 2WD transmission?

2.4 came in 90-96 and 2.6 89- down. Not sure if your tail section will transfer onto 2wd tranny, might have remembered reading it did but not 100% sure. You can also ask on mightyram50.net

would a manual tranny still connected to the transfer case parted from a 87 2.6L Raider fit in my truck?

Yes should be the same tranny, not 100% sure on that though.

I have found a couple transmissions. What's a fair price to pay for one of these? under 100,000 miles? 150,000 miles?
Also, how much do they weigh w/out transfer case?

$100 a good price, or around there. Weight about 60-70 lbs

The Montero/Raider used a hydraulic clutch system, rather than cable actuated. The trans internals are the same, but the bell housing is different.

Me and my friend took a 5 speed that was bolted to a 2.0 and we bolted it straight to my 2.6 in my 86 idk wat the diffrence is cause the trannys got two seprate bolt holes on the top left for 2.0 and the 2.6
