cooling questions...

Ok new setup getting on my nerves no offense, but anyway just got rebuilt motor installed dude supposedly put new water pump on there but seems to be getting hot an im only assuming because over flow kinda steams and coolant sensor isnt workin, sooo id like to install a water temp gauge but where is the coolant temp sensor is it the one on the side of the intake? Also what options should i look into for thermostat?

Run the stock factory or Stant 192-195F thermostat, that thermostat temperature will NOT be a cause of running warm. The sensor for the stock temperature gauge is just under the thermostat housing. I doubt that the water pump itself is involved in this.
