My mechanic installed my new fuel pump on my 1990 b2200, I noticed he didn't use the spacer. Is that ok?

The spacer was used by the factory for a reason. If it isn't there, expect issues in the future.

The old one didn't have a spacer on it either. I watched him take it off.

Then run without one.
You asked if it was okay... I answered.

I apologize. Didn't mean to come off the wrong way. I was just confused. I'll call my mechanic and tell him to put it on.

Hey rutvegas, Use the spacer... your pump may fail prematurely or it will cause you issues later. The "path" of the arm on the pump will be different without the spacer - it is there for a reason otherwise Mazda would have used a different set up. One thing I've learned about these trucks, they have them setup a certain way for a reason, change that and you may experience issues.

They are cheap and readily available at places like Autozone etc.

No reason to apologize. I took no offense.

..unless he left the old spacer stuck to the cylinder head....be wary of this "mechanic" or most mechanics who feel they know more than factory college-educated engineers....
