late to early model 8lug stud pattern differences

I have a 1978 C30 frame for a project, and i'll possibly be getting a 04-07 silverado dually wreck for the duramax in it. I've heard that the silverado went to an AAM rear axle in 2001 that is bigger and badder than the 14 bolt which would suit me fine for what i'm doing. What year did the Silverado move away from the 8lug on 6.5" stud pattern and what is the stud pattern on that vehicle? What are the standard wheel diameter/width and offset on the later 07 truck compared to what i have now?

If the stud pattern is different to my 1978 front IFS, is it possible to change the stud pattern by swapping either the spindle or mounting hub?

Any help would be appreciated

The stud pattern is the same on both trucks, 8x6.5. However the hub pattern is bigger on the newer trucks. 73-2000 Chevy hub bores are 4.567" and 2001-2010 is 4.61". Not much of a difference but enought to keep the wheels from fitting properly on the hub.

Thanks guys

Are the rims lug centered or hub centered? If they're lug centered then i could use the later model rims on the earlier model hubs right?

If i can't then how hard is it to change to the later model bearing hub/carrier without changing the spindle?

Most factory wheels are hub centric.

I doubt that the bearings are the same from the old style to the newer style trucks.

Thanks for that. Shame to have the upspecced later model axle there and not be able to use it. But i guess that's the way it's going to go.
