Rear spring ?????

Has anyone ever used 1/2t rear springs to lower their truck? I dont plan on towing/hauling alot of weight,just a BBQ trailer. Plus it should make for a smoother ride. I dont want to go balls deep in the cashflo,so I am exploring different avenues. Thanks
