I've got a 14 bolt single wheel that masuers 84" from drum to drum
and my dually rear end that masuers 88 1/2 when I take out the 4 inches will the shorter axels work in my dually rear?

next question:
is their a way to tell the deferance from a 9 1/2" ring gear and a10 1/2 ring gear with out pulling the diff. cover?

If I understand you right, no. You'll have to put the complete srw diff in your truck or put your dually hubs/drums on the SRW axle and it will be super narrow...........a 9 1/2" 14 bolt is a semi floater diff, where a 10 1/2" is a full floater.. Try here is all else fails

well one thang that I've found out is that the 9 1/2 ring gear rears are 33 spline and the others are 30
both of mine are 10 1/2 so I might have my axels that will save some moneys

hay that pirate 4x4 is great I spent about an hour reading stuff

If any one needs axle for thier rear ends MOSER engineering is the only one that I have found so far that makes them 315.00 for the set

also US gear makes gears with ratios from 3.42 -5.13 if any one wants to change your ratio
