Well, the engine is out........ I had a very slight rod knock when I bought it, figured I would fix it soon...... Good thing I pulled the motor now!!!! #4 rod shell was just about ready to spin and take out the crankshaft!!!! Does anybody know if the stock upper compression ring was originally a two-piece ring???? All 4 pistons are like this....... Crank and rod journals all spec out to standard size, and the crank has absolutely NO WEAR as well as the cylinder walls (no ring ridge at all)......

After all new main, rod, and cam bearings, along with new rings....... She purrs like a kitten, and NO MORE SMOKE OR KNOCK!!!! I replaced all the valve stem seals while I had the engine apart (all 8 valves were in excellent shape, but the valve stem seals were no longer rubber!!!).......

Good to hear!
Typical for high mileage valve seals.
