Ok I'VE used the search function and found nothing so here goes.

ive seen a few (very few) gen 1 S10's with a colorado ft clip and since it is not a common mod i want to install 1 on my gen 1.

I have a general parts list in mind and most of how it goes but have a couple questions for someone whos done this install.

1. where did you section fenders?.2. did you mod gen 1 core support or replace it with a colorado unit?.

i hope to start in the next week or so on the install along with colorado tail lights , completion goal FFF 2013.

good luck to me right LOL.

Ive done 2 of these. One of the trucks I sold the front swap and salvaged the other is still sitting in the owners driveway.

The first one I did was a normal front swap and was easier than the second one. The second one I did laid a 22 and had the fenders raised 1.5" to clear the tires.

But to answer your questions..

1. where did you section fenders?.
You will cut the rado fender along the flares bodyline then take the top part of the fender and trace it onto the s10 fender and cut it out on the line you traced out.

In this pic pay close attention to the top part of the fender closest to the door. You want to start your cut on the rado fender right before it starts to curve upward here and then cut over to where the bodyline stops bc you want to keep all of that bodyline.

2. did you mod gen 1 core support or replace it with a colorado unit?.

On both of the ones I did, I used a stock colorado core support. I felt this was a lot easier and required a lot less fabrication this way. The only fab required this way was to cut off the old core mounts on the frame and build new ones that were a bit loner bc the mounts are further apart on a rado than the s10. The other fab needed was a lower fender mount. This was pretty easy.
If you decide to make your own ore, you will have to align the headlight and make mounts for those and the grille. It just seems easier and cheaper to buy an aftermarket core from rockauto.com.

3. Questions you didn't ask -
Q. What do you do about hood hinges?
You can either make ones that adapt the stock s10 hinge to the rado hood like I did on the first one or you can adapt a different type of hinge like I did on the second one. The second one I did used gas struts and hinges from a ford sporttrac. Here's how I did the first ones.
The flat piece is part of the stock rado hinge that comes on the hood. The other piece is part of the s10 stock hinge.

Q. What do I do about a front bumper?
You have options here. You can either create your own or you can adapt a stock rado bumper. The first one I did I never got that far. The second one I did I built a pan like LSOH did on theirs.

Q. What about a wiper cowl?
This has to be custom made. The first one I did, I never got this far. The second one I built a custom one made from 18ga metal and parts of the stock s10 cowl.

Hopefully this helps and good luck.
