tacoma frame width issue

Im stock flooring my tacoma and i have thet rails cut open. Im had planned to go with the in the frame rail method to keep it simple but im using 2x3 and the stock rails are like 3" wide inside. Will it be ok to clamp both sides together to the stock rails to meet up with the 2x3? I was thinkng it would maybe be to much pressure or something.

Just put the 2x3 in and weld it up. Drill some holes in the stock frame so you can back fill it also. Assuming you're using a minimum of 3/16" wall 2x3 you'll be fine.

the inside of the tacoma frame is 2.5' wide ...
