cab mounts and bushings
Was just wandering what everybody doing square tube frames are using for cab mounts and bushings? The truck im working on is getting 2x3 frame rails and a new cab floor also due to some rust, just wanted to hear and SEE some ideas. Thanks in advance.
Ive always used the stock bushings...however I'm building a frame now that the stock bushings wouldn't work. A guy at work told me about a rubber material they use as bushings for heavy machinery...to Isolate the machinery from the concrete it is bolted to. I got some 12x12 squares of it from a local distributer and am going to cut it into 3 inch disc's to use as body bushing. I won't know how it performs until the truck is back on the road but It should work ok. It's better than no bushings...which I have seen some shops in the South do. I try to use the stock bushings if all possible.
I do the same thing Jerry does. I buy sheets of rubber from my local distributor, and cut out the body mount on the water jet. Usually i get .750 thick rubber to do this with, has worked great for me in the past.
If at all possible, i use the stock stuff, but its not all ways an option.

I make a new mount that uses a stock S10 body bushing and just weld it to the frame.
I like bbt fab low profile mounts that they use on most of their projects and use the same rubber u guys were refering to I believe
I have use Hockey pucks. Its an old hot rodder trick.
Thats a good produce kyle.

Pics of BBT bushings? I use S10s as well but would like something a little more low profile sometimes. Ive used the low pro urethane mounts but Id rather it be rubber..
Energy Suspension makes some universal body mounts as well.
