another name that movie

ok not sure when this came out but it was set in a 2 story house and a closet in one of the rooms led to anther time/world...but some parts i remeber is the guy and his friend used a fishing pole to try and catch what ever was in the closet and then one of them gets pulled in...all i remember of that then one guy i remembers shows up in a river in the back yard ....this was in the 90's i think ..wish i knew more about it mabe someone can get one imm talking about

ok i found it but lets see if anyone can name it...also after reading some about the movie something else i didnt remember at the time ..was in the movie the home owners son went mising

yea it was house some other movies i found trying to find it that i have also been trying to remember was "The gate" from 1987 and "Nothing but trouble' from 1991 ...some old great movies
