how many miles should i expect out of a set of heims on the ends of my tierods? i bought a set from hm-engineering about 10k miles ago & they have a slight chatter to them now (i forget what series they are). is there a better heim for my app? its a 5/8 x 5/8 heim stepped down to 1/2 w/ ma spacers.

It's impossible to say how many miles you can expect out of a spherical part. A small amount of play is normal, but if it gets too great you'll need to replace them. Did you use teflon lined parts?

* I believe* they were tephlon. I read somewhere else that Kevlar are avail, any better?
Main reason I ask is I feel the front end isn't as tight as it once was. The only thing I can find w/ any play is the tierod, specifically the outer heim.

There is a company that makes bronze bushed heims that might live longer. Give them a call and see what they think. http://www.midwestcontrol.com/spherical-rod-ends.php
