i just put my 2.3 back into my 91 ranger but i dont have a tranny xmember in since the frame is custom built. I need to know at what angle should the engine sit so i can jack up the tranny since its still bolted to the engine and build a tranny member. Can i just set an angle finder on top of the valve cover or intake manifold to set it?

put the tailshaft of the tranny at - 2 degrees.put an angle finder on there to set the motor angle.

being at -2 degrees is that laid out or drive height? cuz as of now theres no rear suspension so the frame is only laid out. and also at negative 2 degrees the tail shaft should be pointing slightly upward towards the rear end correct? or am i backwards?

so as in level you mean with the frame in the air or on the ground cuz when your driving it should be pointing down right....i need a way to set it up with the frame on the ground so should i point it up at 2 degrees?

Your engine angle will be the same laid out or raised.Set it at -2 degrees with your frame rails set at zero, just jack the frame up from the front and use steel shims here and there to get the frame to zero since your garage floor won't be even either.

yes. With the frame sitting flat on the concrete, you want your tailshaft with the angle finder on it to show -2 degrees. That is a slight point in the downward position. if it were a +degree, it would be pointing up.

OK COOL...THANKS GUYS I APPRECIATE IT...SO WHEN I GET THAT DONE, AND I START SETTING UP THE REAR END, AT DRIVE HEIGHT IT SHOULD STILL BE - 2 DEGREES RIGHT

Thats right, your tailshaft angle will not change in relation to your frame at all.
