Torsion Bars

Can I adjust my torsion bars to raise my vehicle up? If so how much? Just hoping to do this on the cheap without increasing the danger of it all....

you can usually, without reindexing the bars, raise or lower a torsion bar suspension 2-3" without any problems. im sure there will be people who did this on that more, but, its a good rule of thumb.
