so, i broke both the blocks on my yota yesterday at work. tryin to get off some snow/ice in 2nd and 3rd (more wheel speed, better bite) and caught traction. it snapped a big chunk out of each and the axle twisted back. tweaked the pinion way up. twisted it back and babied it home. i ordered some new ones today. the ubolts didnt break. oh well. ill run plates on top next time to be safe. djm 4" angled aluminum ones. anybody else had this happen?

build some steel ones out of 2x4 tubing. some 4x4 shops have steel ones also.

I had the same thing happen on my girls S10. The ones we broke were not DJMs but looked like they were cast aluminum, I swapped them out for some from auto zone that seemed to be machined from a solid piece and have had no priblems. I still think the reason the first ones broke were due to the U bolts being loose. Make sure you recheck the U bolts after you initially tighten them.

I had a friend that bought some cheap Ebay aluminum blocks, he rode on them for a couple years through the winters. They use a ton of salt on the roads in Mass. The aluminum corroded soo much from the salt that the blocks crumbled. He switched them out to solid steel blocks.

i bought some steel ones years ago, i think they came from aim. aluminum ones just didnt seem like a good idea to me at the time.

yeah. i had them on my 92. no problems. no problems with these til now. i feel its a good product, its just they took too much force. new ones should be at my door any minute now though. i hope so, i gotta work at 530 and would really rather take the yota than continue borrowing my moms 360, 4x4, 5000lb ramcharger that gets like 9 a gallon.
