i was wondering any downsides to cutting down my body mount bushings? i know on my fullsize the body mount looks to be about 3" thick. any cons to trimming it to a 1" thick. besides stiffer feel and stuff..

if you are trying to lower the body, the cab floor will hit the frame/drivetrain long before the body moves down far enough.

the properties of the body mount material say it will be squishier with less material, not stiffer. you make the mount stiffer using stiffer material.

as an example, lets take a 1" thick mild steel rod and try to bend it. you probably cant. lets reduce the material by 2/3, so now we have a steel rod 1/3" thick. think you can bend it with the same force you used before? with even less force? if you reduced the thickness and made the bar from a stronger material, you would retain the stiffness and make the size smaller.

ok yeah i see. ok i was thinking it would be closer to being metal to metal so it would be rougher.

yeah the body would hit the frame or the drivetrain before it got to that inch. Most cabs are only about 1/2 inch away from the frame in some points. exhaust too!
