This make it adjustable without removing the bar. LH threads on one end and RH on the other. you just loosen the jam nuts and turn the bar. one way it gets longer, the other way it gets shorter.
remember to always keep the jam nuts tight. if you dont they will eventually ruin the threads from vibration and flex.

That is right! I see trucks all the time where the jamb nut has been left loose or even left off. It is just a bad idea, even if the threads are lubricated to keep them from getting trashed, it's one of those "WHEN it fails" things not "IF it fails." It's only about $50 for a heim or super-pivot if you need a joint to articulate instead of leaving the threads loose.
