i was thinkin when i pull my 92 slider glass should i rework the metal to use a 2000 dakota solid back glass that's urethaned in? i want to clean it up and get rid of the large rubber surround.

Has anyone used a later model glass on their s10 or other older mini?

well that might not be the exact year i was thinkin, but i've seen some of the 2000+ models with no rubber seal visible. i'll just have to check around a salvage or call my glass guy. i just think it would look better if the rear glass didnt protrude from the body 3/4" and looked more like the side windows. (that top one is an old pic of mine from way back.)

the newer dakotas, including that blue one, does not have the same seal he is talking about. I think it would be one of those subtle touches that no one will notcie until you point it out, but then it's like "damn, thats clean"...

Its true..most people dont notice it. We did a nova wagon with all the glass flush mounted.

i think it would be awesome if you did your rear glass like they do flushmount LED taillights... so you cant even feel a line or anything, and your paint would determine the shape and size of your window... anyone get me?

you would have to move the pinch out enough and build a "lip" to sit flush with the glass' wouldnt be hard, just time consuming. would look awesome as hell though.

You can get glass made quite easily, just have them use 5m glass in whatever colour or shade you want then have it sent out to be tempered. And make sure they put a ceramic band on it. They should make the glass about 1/4 small all around, and have them finish the edge before it goes to get tempered. Sand it out then polish it with a cork belt, just tell em that and they will know what you are talking about.
