Its an American thing Corey. Australians say tray, you guys say box. If you go to a GM dealer here they are classed by Short Bed, Standard Bed, and Long Bed now. Thats just how it is here.

my mom has a book kinda like the book "why men have nipples" it explains how certain terms come about... anyway, this is what the book says about truck beds -

when trucks were actually used for "truck-stuff" people used them to make cross country loads, camping and/or hunting. 90% of the time the "bed" was used for just that... to stop and sleep while on the road thus terming it the "bed of a truck"

idk. beds are flat and you sleep on them. Boxes have sides and you put shit in them. Box makes more sense to me...eh.

What's all this fussin "aboot" I think they also call it a bed because when your sixteen and you and your girlfriend have no house you use it as a bed as well. but the box does make more sense than bed but then again we are americans so.... who says we have to make sense.
