I would get some more opinions about the fleece
for structural parts. Speaker enclosures don't equate
to a fender. Try and find some quality woven glass mat.
While I don't have personal experience with doing fenders
the project we were doing needed alot more strength than
glassing the fleece would provide.

Hey sorry I missed your post, it just showed up for some reason. I would of came over and lended a hand. You can start with the steel on the inside too, I wouldn't use fleece though, the fiberglass mesh is what you need, walmart probably has it or any auto parts store that has body filler. With the strapping on the inside I would just do one layer on the outside, flip them over and remove some of the steel and do it in a 3 or 4 sections over lapping them. You could do one or two layers on the inside then remove more steel, do a few more layers overlapping the first ones, and so on. After you get all of the steel off then do more layers over all of the seems. When that is good and done, flip them back over and do your final work there.
On the outside I would overlap the mesh an inch or so onto the original fiberglass so it doesn't leave the cut edge to crack.
