What is the quickest and best way to find out if a Ford 9" is Posi, Limited slip, or open?

OK....rephrase....when I spin one wheel, shouldn't the other wheel go the same way if it is limited slip or Posi?? When I spin one wheel the other wheel goes the other way, so that means it is open, right?

yes.

if you spin one and the other turns the opposite its an open

there is no such thing as a posi. that was a name gm used to sell their limited slip rear end.

a true posi is a spool.

Thank you...I thought I was right, but wanted to make sure. I thought the same about the Posi too, but this Hot Rod guy the other day kept throwing the term around when he was looking at buying my Ford 9", so I figured I would throw that out there for opinion as well. He kept talking about he didn't want a true Posi Ford 9" because they aren't good for the street. I was sold this rearend thinking it was limited slip and never bothered checking so now I know what I have isn't really worth much even after I spent about $350 to have it narrowed and the axles cut and resplined....LOL. Guess I'll just keep it for a later project.

Thanks again.
