okay, never lowered a front wheel drive before. friend has an 8 4 door auto civic. wants it down just a bit. should i cut the coils it has, get some ebay drop coils, or some ebay coilovers? she wants it cheap and low...like my ex. haha. nothing too low though. probably 1.5"-2" would be good. i would personally go with like 3-4" but i like shit in the dirt. any help. budget is like 100 bucks. let me know.

I would not buy ebay anything... they coilover sleeves are absolute crap, and in all reality the coils are not much better. For a decent 1.5 - 2 inch drop I would go with suspension techniques drop coils, they are cheap and work great. I would not cut the coils, they tend to not be able to hold the car off of the bump stops during cornering. I have lowered many civics and fwd's and buying springs is the best way.

thats what i figured. ebay is okay for interior and lighting, but i dont know about buying no name brand stuff for suspension. how much would suspension techniques set me back for that drop?

i have some adjustables that i'd sell ya for 10 bucks plus shipping but one end piece is missing and another is cracked, and they are rusty but i suppose you could clean them up, like he said though they're crap. my wifes crx has some 2" tenzo that would ride great if the struts were good but with the stockies it dives all the time.

by the way i had a 90 civic with cut coils and it rode like turd. when you cut the coil you lose the flat end coil and they tend to tip and rub the strut.

also remember when buying jsut the coils that the strut shocks tend to go out a lil quicker than normal and will ride like crap so invest in some new shocks also

cutting won't kill you. I have had 2 civics. Both have had cut coils. I ran them for years. The ride isn't horrible, just a little squishy.

You can even go to a salvage yard and get a set of springs and struts for $50. just cut them up so he can keep his stocks.

My wife used to drive one of them most of the time and she loved that little car and misses it everyday.
