how you guys doing.. i have a 94 chevy dually ext cab with a 454 ..do you guys think is worth doing a diesel swap on it or not worth it..gas prices are killing me and plus it does not have to much power and see diesels now days have potencial.. i talking about a duramax or cummins not the 6.5
Cummins would be the way to go if you are going to swap. Search around. There is a guy that makes bolt in kits for the 73-87 body style and I think he also makes them for the 88-98 body style.
If you do the swap you need to swap engine, tranny, wiring harness, fuel lines, fuel tank(s), etc. Nothing from a gas engine will work, and I mean NOTHING.
a cummins would probably be the best, like an 01 24 valve and a 6 speed, that motor is mostly mechanical so it wiould be a easy swap, the duramax uses like 16 computer/modules to make it run and everything right.
id go duramax... you can have them quiet and still have a shit load of power or just cut everything off and itll sound like a jet... your choice i swap like 2 a year out for the family business and theyre not that bad... they just weigh a shit load if you throw the allison tranny into the mix
cummins is def the way to go..
1994-1997 1/2 12valve is def a good choice..
duramax is a good engine also but cummins is my personal choice all around..
sweet...thanks guys i might look into the cummins
i have a powerstroke and love it, but i know you can squeeze a lot more hp/tq out of the cummins engine...always amazed me how they do that with only 6 cyl. ???? a crazy world
i guess because it has bigger pistons??maybe lol

well if you have trouble spending double the money fuel, i dont see you being able to afford a diesel swap......
