Air truck up and see if it stays.
Look at welds and overall quality of work.
Look safe?
Any major dragging, frame almost gone.
Depending on vehicle, front crossmember there, gas tank close to dragging off?
Good luck and hope your first experience is cool.

You should look for good quality welds and fabrication. Make sure the bags are in good shape, and not being rubbed through. Check the valves and make sure they are not leaking or sticking. Check the condition of the air compressor(s). Check to make sure there is no binding in the suspesion. Check the frame and make sure it is in good structual shape.

Ask why they are selling it? If the answer seems shady, maybe it is a piece of crap. Maybe go with somebody else who knows air suspension. If not, just a friend to be an extra pair of eyes to check things over.

Check the weld quality, look for scuffed or rubbing bags as well. Sloppy workmanship, massive body filler deposits and general loose ends are all good things to keep an eye open for as well. Is the under hood area clean if the fenderwells have been removed or is there zipties and random underhood items strewn everywhere? Make sure that the trucks air system and eletrical wiring don't look like rats nests either. Nothing worse than trying to trouble shoot a problem in something with hacked up wiring or air plumbing. Make sure that the supply lines for the air bear a DOT approved marking as well, this is really easy to do as its printed on the side of the line. Does it have shocks installed and if so do they bind or leak? Remember that if something looks questionable in the areas you can readily see it probably gets worse in the areas you can't. Good luck, I hope it turns out for you.
