i have a chevy dually with a 454 i want to paint the block red nothing fancy is my daily driv er i want to paint it a lil and put some chrtome on it so whats the best way to do this like pred and all so it lasts ima take the accesories out and tbi unit and then paint also is that spray enamel good thasnks

well if its just your daily driver and you dont want to spend to much then i suggest buying the high temp/heat spray enamel i have had no bad experiences with it just make sure you de grease the motor really good before you spray it then do a once over with a scotch pad . hope that helps you out ....you should be able to pick up the paint at any parts store .

yeah, cannot stress the de greasing enough when you think you have done it enough, do it again.

After I degrease it I would spray it down with brake cleaner to make sure.

I scrubbed mine first with brake cleaner, then twice with a Low Odour Varsol, then scrubbed again with clean water. I used a self etching primer on the heads, but should that be used on the block itself?
