2 out of 3 of my strut tower nuts are striped out from the damn impact gun and the more i try to get them off the worse it gets.. how the hell do I break them free? A friend said i should try a sharp chisel and see if i can nick it and break it loose.. Help would be great

Hammer 1 size smaller socket onto it? Thats how i've gotten some stuff off, but usually do that as a last resort.

works better with a 12 point socket than a 6 point socket, or you could just get a bolt extractor set. you can pick on up at sears fairly cheap.

hammering the socket on might work but try putting some heat to the nut to expand it a little (portable torch) seems to work for me .

cut a slit into the top of the bolt and make it like a flat head screw... oops i just read it was a nut. just cut it off carefully not getting too close to the threads, then take a flat screw driver and try beating it a bit to make it turn...

i have a small kit made for stripped bolts made by IRWIN 5 sockets with both standard and metric sizes that have sharp reverse threads in them to bite into any bolt and it works every time. i got mine at home depot but any ace hardware or like store should have it.

mac edge sockets are the shit for stripped out bolts. unless the threads are stripped then your screwed, then you have to cut it off.

A pair of vise grips and some elbow grease, it may not be the first choice, but it may work
