can you weld stainless to regular caron steel?

yes, just grind it good and make sure its burnt int here good n hot.

sweet, cuz I can pretty much get stainless all day long for about free. So my bed should be done alot sooner than i orginally thought..

I ain't tigging it. I am just gonna weld it, grind it and seam seal it then rhino it.

Yes but it depends on what grade it is and what type of welding rod/wire you use...and of course use stainless gas, or tri mix thats good for stainless and mild steel. As for rod I believe its 309 for mild to stainless....

know what grade of stainless your getting. some grades are not weldable at all. since your planning on migging it and arent going to tig weld it with the propper filler wire. id recommend looking up the combination you want to weld in a welding book and make sure its suitable for mig welding with steel wire. dont just blindly weld unknown steels together.

Oh and my previous posts assumes that you are welding 304 stainless....
