so i have the motor out of my 83 s10 (it has a small block now) and we just finished smoothing out the firewall... would it be best to run the wiring when the motor is out, or when its back in, to make sure that the motor is going to cover the wiring up since i only need a couple of wires going into the engine bay.
*EDIT*
also, any pics anyone has of their firewalls with the wiring redone would be awesome! thanks alot!!

why did you go out the side? Did you hide everything in the fender and come out as close as possible to the connection point?

hmm i never thought about coming out of the side like that... do you have any pics with the front assembled?? i suppose i could run the dist. wire up along the cowl and you'd never see it

i ran it out the side to hide everything. it all goes throught the fender. the headlight/ turn sig wires go out the other fender. the dist and temp run just under the firewall and behind the motor , you cant see em less you really look for em. the temp comes off the front to the fan wires and under the frame.

sweet thanks alot man!! one more thing... i still have the stock harness in mine, but i have a painless kit to put in if i want to. was it a hard install? i know all the wires are labeled, but was it a pain to get everything to work? (ignition, headlights, tails..)

no i didnt think so. the harness plugged right into my steering column and everything else was just routing wires. i laid eveything out in the floor and studied it for a few days just to get everything in my head right. i would recommend gettin an after market headlight switch like they sell. made that a bunch easier imo. if you run into any problems i'll do my best to help
