my 1998 s-10 has the gauge cluster with out the tach. can i replace it with one that does and it will work right?

I believe it will work. You may have to run the tach signal lead, but on a 98 I bet it is already there.

I believe the tach on that truck is controlled through th computer.

i believe on the one piece cluster all the wires are ran for all of them.so i think it would work

i have a 00 s-10, i bought a 98 cluster with the tach cause my old cluster didnt work. Theres no wires to run, everythings computer controlled & works perfectly. disconnect your battery before playing with wires though =) www.car-part.com is where i got mine from.

oh, and whatever mileage that the new one has on it will be how many miles your truck will show itself having.
