Ok guy/girls heres the deal got my 79 620 pickup 5.5" bodydrop on it. I personally dont like my hood atm cuz of the huge ass scoop for the motor, what are some suggestions about getting it where i can use the stock hood again? I know bout moving the motor mounts further down on the frame, someon even suggested to me about sectioning the oil pan and having it welded back together but I dont know if Im willin to risk that just yet. Just need some thoughts on the subject and any ideas or opinions are welcome, Thanks!!!

yes section your oil pan, make the pick up tube shorter, and that will make the bottom about 2-3 inches shorter depending on how much room you have. when making your pan shorter, extend the sides outward so you dont loose oil capacity. its an easy thing, dont be scared.
also yes remake your motor mounts and move your motor down to utilize your cool new oil pan. also dont forget side draft carbs. right now your carb is on "top" of the motor, take it off and install side draft carb and manifold kit and the valve cover will beyour heighest point. all these suggestions and you should be able to use your stock hood... no holes

damn 5.5 thats big mine is 4.5 I got a cowl hood but it's not that big. I plan on going back to the stock hood.so far the advice you are getting is about all you can do. except side drafts won't help much cause the valve cover is sticking all the way out of the engine compartment.good luck

Thanks guys for the advice, I guess ill have to check into if anyone around here can do the oil pan for cuz im a good welder but I dunno if I wanna tackle something like that or not, as far as the motor mounts do they just need to be moved down the frame further or basically just cut and dropped to lower position?
