2.2L 4Cylinder Chevy motor, 01 S10...

When I am driving it.. let's say in 4th gear.. about 50.. Holding the gas down, staying right at 50... every now and then, it will lose power for a second, like I let off the gas, like fuel is getting stopped from going to the engine.. Sometimes it does this when I am trying to take off, its cutting out..

Then sometimes during decceleration, when I'm letting off the gas on the highway or something, it backfires, which I hear is rare in fuel injection..

Think it could just be a misfire somewhere? and that letting fuel get into the exhaust and causing the backfire this way?

I have a headache and can't think.. Anyone have any ideas?

sounds like a fuel related issue check your plugs and replace fuel filter. but check your fuel pressue also. that would be some good places to start

im not much of an engine guy but spark plugs and wires have always fixed my issues with it seeming to lose power. usually ill also run a think of fuel injector cleaner once a month just to keep the injectors clean

by the way do you have a check engine light on if so that would be a good thing to check into it can give you a good idea of what is going on

thats the weird thing.. no CEL.. *shrug*

I'm gonna pull the plugs and check them today.. but the backfire kinda makes me think it might be a misfire somewhere..

I'm kind of dumb when it comes to engines tho, how would a head gasket make it cut out and backfire?

a blown head gasket can cause more than you would think if you are gonna do this it is just a process of eliminatin unless you have a shop manual and can do some pinpoint tests

very possible if so on obd 2 vehicles it will put your system in open loop and make every thing work on a set paremiter
