I'm guessing it was this thread

if so, you were wrong, compressions are ok, but there is nothing wrong with DOT push in fittings, as long as you use them right
damn, they got crazy over something stupid...but i agree with that one guy, PTC fittings suck. they are good if your in a pinch with a blown line on the side of the road but no way will i ever use them for everything on my truck. i bought a train horn with a PTC fitting on it and it leaked, so that was that..put a compression fitting on it and all the problem went away. id rather spend the few extra minutes tightening down a compression fitting then just pushing in an air line. it just doesnt seem safe to use PTC's other than temporary purposes. i'm sure a lot of you will argue that point, but im just saying. and they were complaining about buying the barrels and sleeve things...their like 30 cents for a pack of 5 at least in ky they are but im sure anywhere they are no more than a buck. hell most of the time ill ask if they have any and they'll just give you a few extra...if people gripe over the cost of that stuff, they have no buisness building a mini.
I have to disagree with you on that.
I used to work for a thermoforming company, and we built machinery that was built to run 24hrs a day and 7 days a week, all year round making various plastic parts. The entire machine was ran pneumaticly, the average working pressure was between 400-600psi at all times, and would sometime peak out near 800psi. We used parker All metal PTC fittings. There was over 500 fittings on each machine, and they only got changed out on service calls, which is about every 3-5 years.
There ARE ptc fittings out thare that are worth a damn, and WILL work for an every day driven vehicle. Just because you havent found them yet dosent mean that all of them are junk, if you find the right ones they are a great choice.
They are in the parker industrial series line of fittings.
