Transmission help, weird noise...

My truck, 01 S10 2.2L 5speed.... The guy I bought it from just put a new clutch in it, he did it himself..

Sometimes when I am driving, the transmission starts making a loud ass high pitch whine... sounds like sort of like what zipping a zip tie sounds like.. or a loopthrough in a sound system when you get the power wire crossed with a speaker wire..

Well anyway, it continues to make this noise until I stop.. then if I take off again it starts making it again and gets louder as I go faster..

Now, the kicker.. if I put the truck in reverse.. and then back into first.. it quits.. wtf?

It only does this every now and then and I have to stop, put it in reverse, then Im good to go again...



Any ideas?

ive never had any zipties make a loud ass high pitch wine........

if you are driving and the noise starts ....and you depress the clutch pedal does it go away?.....is there any jerking or chattering when taking off.....

sounds like u may have a bad throwout bearing although it going away when u put it in reverse makes no sense

The noise comes in sperts.. just sometimes.. It happend last week and again today.. It goes away when I depress the clutch yes.. Only way I can get it to stop is to come to a stop.. but the truck in reverse.. and then back into 1st.. I dont even have to let off the clutch, as long as I pull it into reverse and back out it stops..

first off, did you check your fluid? if not, do so, and while your at it might as well change it.

Fluid is good..

It does it when its all the way in gear... and when I pull it into neutral.. and let off the clutch.. it makes the noise still while rolling.. when the clutch is depressed, it stopps..

if the guy who put the clutch in didnt tighten the bolts to the clutch down correctly the fingers on the center of the clutch may not be flush and have to be or u will get noise or vibration. this will require pullin the tranny back out
