hey guys, first time im replacing the alternator on my hombre. i got a haynes manual. however its telling me i need to remove the drive belt/serpitine belt. i really dont have time for that tommrow as i still have to relocate the battery to the bed. install reverse lights, primer one color (half way done) bolt my computer to my cab firewall and install the alternator. so can i just unbolt the alternator and then just pull it out and slap the new on in and finish the rest of the shit i gotta do. by the way its a 2.2L 4CYL

its really easy to remove the serpentine belt..just take a long handle ratchet..place it on the tensioner bolt and pull to release the pressure off the belt..takes no more than 20 seconds..just remember the way the belt was on..should be a diagram on the radiator shroud..

its easier to use a wrench.. i believe its 18, but might be a 16mm.. put another wrench on the end of that one to use as leverage. comes off very easy.

no thats only on older ones you can your a wrench on newer ones its a 3/8 hole in the tensioner you just slip your wratchit in and pull up its much easier
