rag top question????

hey guys i was wondering if i could get some pro's and con's, or difference between useing a canvas ragtop or vinyl ragtop? also what size rag are people running on a stardard cab mini? (mazda for me)

My older brother just put a rag in his astro and he hates it, says it leaks, gets alot of wind noise, wind. Says its worth it if its not going in a daily, or if you just drive at night with it open. I kinda want one but after reading posts on here im iffy.

good question dev. i was wondering the diff between can and vinyl toooo. other than quality resaons. what are people running? and the difference would be nice to know, fadeing, ripping, etc.

you know how big it is? and if he put a wind deflector in front of it?

Theres no wind deflector and its almost the full length of the roof, id say maybe a foot away from the ends front and back, less than that on the sides. Dont know the exact measurement but Ill talk to him tommorow and find out

screw it just cut off the roof.. ..Don't need it....

I love mine. It is a 40x80 canvas and it is awesome. I can be driving down the road and if im going over 50-55 it does not even rain in. Sure it leaks a little but whats a little bit of water. However, I rarley shut it, and i drive my truck about once a week.

Donny, whats the quality of the canvas like? compared to vinyl?

I'm guessing you are asking because the vinyl is more expensive than canvas on sbc.com. Thats because of the sale they have going on, the canvas is actually the better fabric to have, vinyl has sun damage problems.

If you are wanting a std cab 35x20 one, I have a new in box black canvas one I bought when they had the sale last year. I havent put it in and doubt I will ever have time to, I havent touched the maz in almost two years. It has the black headliner option, and I'd sell it for 290 shipped anywhere in the lower 48. I have a UPS hookup. You can order from SBC too, but it will take a few months to get it.

Like anything, it depends on the installation. You are cutting a hole in your roof and sealing it up with cloth, so I would expect wind noise as a side effect. You also shouldnt pressure wash the roof. But I have heard if you install it right, the problems are minimized.
