wut would be better to weld on a frame or weld up a frame... and which is cleaner!!!
i would go in this order...
tig...hard to do, can produce more consistant penetration, takes forever to do, can look really clean because the amount of filler is limited by what you choose to add.
mig... looks clean if welded right, good penetration depends on amperage of welder and isnt adjustable, flux sux but burns hot.
arc.. blobby and fugly but good penetration, perfect for heavy equip where looks dont count

last time i checked, the heat setting(amperage) was adjustable an mostly ALL welders(tig/mig/stick)
i can lay an arc weld bead just as good as a mig, only down fall is the slag from the electrode coating on top of the weld.
BUT mig always looks the best IMO.
you know what i meant, on tig you have a heat setting on the machine and then you can adjust it with a foot or hand trigger, mig has just the machine heat setting and cannot be adjusted while welding.
i would say a good tig looks better then a good mig due to the control of the penetration and the minimal amount of filler.
heli arcin is the bomb.
adjustable while welding no but adjustiblity yes.
in the hands of a decent welder, there will be little difference between mig and stick.
stick usually has a deeper cut, but you have to chip the weld to get the flux off.
mig will produce a clean strong weld, when an ample sized machine is used.
i mig everything. just what i have experience with.
I'm a mig guy... arc is for the cave men.
MIG it
but ARC is hellaciously handy in hard to reach corners, behind shit, etc ... just bend the rod in a funky shape and go to town to get around corners.
also if your bagging your truck ina windtunnel.
